This is not one of those documentaries that is essentially a prolonged band interview. The music is the same but the imagery brings new context to some of the classic songs. There are some interesting interview segments but they are brief and scattered between the venues. This is a visualization of their sound. The main video (Heima) is great but there is also a second DVD with additional live performances which is equally wonderful.
I want to know if this dvd contains spanish subtitles. It is very important to me to buy it.Thanks
Simply the most stunning and beautiful concert dvd i have ever seenit could almost serve as a tourist commercial for Island :-) i know, i just wanted to visit the country, agter seeing these beautifully filmed locations. And the music helps alot too :-)
One of the best music movies I've ever seen. It's beautifully shot, the music is awesome (of course), and it's one that can be watched over and over again.
While the music itself is enough, sometimes rocking but always evocative and moving, when combined with the stark, beautiful Icelandic images, this DVD becomes simply transcendent. While paging through my cable guide one night, I saw this playing on IFC. While I missed all but the last half-hour or so, I was so impressed I just had to have it. And when you watch and listen, those emotions come through loud and clear. In short, a musical.visual.EMOTIONAL tour-de-force. After just having watched the complete feature for the first time, my initial impressions have only strengthened.
One can't help but wonder whether the band will do another such tour now, when it is needed more than ever. As I already had their CD (), I decided to check it out. And seeing it now, knowing it was made before the recent economic collapse, it's all the more poignant. In 2006, after a world tour, the band returned to their native Iceland for a series of unannounced, free concerts. This literally sets the stage for what is to come - because when a rock band does that in this day and age, you KNOW they love and respect their land and it's people. And this is a terrific value also - there is a second, 152 minute disc that contains the full-length performances of all the songs featured in the film, plus extras.
For all fans, of Sigur Ros specifically and music in general, simply essential.
